CFB Week 4 - The Night Games

Rice at Baylor (-20, 67.5)
The Quick Zip:

  • Baylor has no issues putting points on the board.  They dropped 50 against the heralded TCU defense and had 48 against Stephen Austin before the game was called early. Rice's defense is currently allowing 28 points per contest and that's been against a so-so Texas and an underwhelming Purdue.
  • Baylor is bringing a very balanced attack that averages 554.4 total yards per game (346.4 pass and 208 rush). The Owls on the other hand can't figure out which part of the offense they want to stop and are allowing over 200 yards per game against the pass and rush.
Baylor just has too many weapons and will be all over Rice early.

The Pick: Baylor -20

Nevada at Texas Tech (-15.5, 63)
The Quick Zip:
  • Seth Doege looks like the second coming Graham Harrell for the Red Raiders.  In just two games he has 727 yards, 8 TDs and 0 INTs.  Nevada has had trouble against teams who take it to the air, just as Darron Thomas of Oregon who threw for 295 and 6 TDs against the Wolfpack.
  • Nevada can't take care of the football as they have 7 turnovers in their first two games.  It almost cost them the game last week, but San Jose State didn't have the offense to capitalize.  Texas Tech does.
Texas Tech should race out to an early lead, but Nevada should be able to sneak in a few scores on the ground.

Predicted Score: Texas Tech wins 56 - 17
The Picks: Texas Tech -15.5 and Over 63
