NFL Week 6 Picks

For those of you keeping track at home, there are only two road favorites this weekend.  We're definitely going to see the dogs in full force, so you have to pick your spots carefully...

Minnesota at Chicago (-1, 41.5)
The Quick Zip:

  • The Vikings picked up their first win last week, but still showed nothing more than Adrian Peterson.  As I noted in a previous post, McNabb only averages 170ypg which doesn't help the offense much.
  • The Bears are coming off a tough loss to the Lions, but get the chance to come home.  The Packers aside, they've been able to get it done against much more potent offenses such as the Panthers and Falcons.
I'm looking for the Vikings to come out flat after finally getting a win and the Bears to step up big on the national spotlight for the Sunday night game.
The Pick: Bears -1

Cleveland at Oakland (-6.5, 44.5)
The Quick Zip:
  • The Browns only road test this year has been against the Colts, so you can't count that win for much.  Overall they're averaging just 18.5ppg, but they haven't been playing top rated defenses all season.
  • Everyone knows there will be a steady dose of McFadden, but no one has quite figured out to stop it.  Allowing 124.5 rush ypg, the Browns won't have the answer either.
The Pick: Oakland -6.5

Buffalo at New York Giants (-3, 50)
The Quick Zip:
  • Eli and company were embarrassed at home last week losing to the Seahawks as double-digit favorites. That said, Manning still threw for 420 yards and 3 TDs along with the 3 INTs.
  • Buffalo has been getting a ton of turnovers, and quite frankly I just don't believe it's sustainable.  Additionally, the past two weeks they've failed to close the book on the Bengals and Eagles in the second half, getting outscored a combined 37-10.
The Pick: NY Giants -3

QUICK HIT PICKS: Green Bay -14, San Francisco +4, Carolina +3.5
