Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Alert for Week 12

Time to stockpile insurance players as the playoffs are looming.  There's no worse place to be than going into the playoffs having rode the likes of a Fred Jackson or Adrian Peterson, only to see them sit out a few weeks and leave you without a back-up plan.  It happened to Peterson owners last year in week 15.  Don't get caught slipping, preparation is everything.
  • RBs: K. Smith (He had a monster game against the Panthers with 200+ total yards and 3 TDs. Word on the street is that he is taking first team reps this week.)  J. McKnight (Sounds like Greene may be ready to go, but he was the only player who showed any promise in the loss to Denver.)  T. Gerhart (Peterson is in a walking boot, so grab his insurance if you need it.  Tough matchup going to Atlanta, but better safe than sorry.) CJ Spiller (See Gerhart note, but replace Atlanta with the Jets.)
  • WRs: M. Crabtree (He and Alex Smith found themselves on the same page last week for 7 catches and 120 yards.  It will be tough to put up similar numbers against the Ravens, but worth a deeper slot if you need help.) R. Cooper (If Young stays the QB, Cooper is likely to put up solid numbers as his security blanket.  Against the Giants he saw a team high 12 targets and pulled down 5 catches for 75 yards and 1 TD.)
  • QBs: M. Leinart (Not because he's had an amazing career, but because he has a lot of talent around him. With Johnson coming back this week, it should be familiar for Leinart since he had Fitz for a couple of years.) V. Young (If starting, he has a favorable matchup against the Pats, who have an atrocious pass D.) R. Grossman (He's back again. Seattle doesn't have a particularly stifling D, and I would expect the Skins to air it out as their rushing offense has slowed.)
  • TEs:  N/A
  • K: N/A
  • Def: N/A
