2012 Preakness Picks: Top 5 and Long Shot

Taking a quick look back at my Derby picks, I would have done pretty well had it not been for the foot bruise Gemologist suffered during the race. Here is how my top five picks stacked up with the actual results:
My Pick / Actual
1. 15 / 19
2. 14 / 6
3. 6 / 5
4. 13 / 13
5. 5 / 8

Looking at the Preakness I get the feeling we're going to be seeing the favorites for the top finishers.  I personally am a big fan of horses who have raced more recently than others, kind of like a CBB team winning its conference tournament and taking momentum in the NCAA tourney. With the shorter track it's going to take a horse who can handle top speeds from beginning to end.  Here are my top five picks:
1. Bodemeister (7) - The popular pick, but he is just soooo fast.
2. Went the Day Well (5)
3. Creative Cause (6)
4. I'll Have Another (9)
5. Tiger Walk (1)

Long shot pick: Tiger Walk (1) - I like the increasing speeds and always a fan of Kent Desormeaux.
